What is Cordwood Construction?

A brief description of cordwood masonry

Cordwood construction, also called "cordwood masonry", "stackwall construction" or "stackwood construction" is a term used for a natural building method in which "cordwood" or short length pieces of debarked tree logs (split or round) 12 to 24 inches long, are laid up with masonry or cob mixtures to build a wall. As ecological minded homebuilders have begun their search for alternative ways to build their homes, cordwood is experiencing a rise in popularity.
